A young orphan grows up in a post-colonial fantasy kingdom. His mysterious mentor is convinced the boy's meant for great things, but where is he getting this from, and what exactly do his grand plans entail?

This was originally something I wrote because I wanted a story in an African-influenced fantasy setting. I wasn't entirely happy with it and shelved it, but then I thought it might work as the basis for a visual novel. I rewrote the entire thing and added some basic branching paths, multiple choices and so on, but I can't draw and couldn't afford to pay an artist. It seemed a shame to do nothing with it, so here it is for now. Four endings, three bad ends, roughly 42,000 words in total.

Disclaimer: none of the depictions herein are meant to endorse any kind of bigotry or racial prejudice whatsoever. If anyone actually plays this and takes (serious) issue with how I've handled any of the subject matter then please let me know.

The logo, half-assed title screen etc. are my own work, using PD/CC images which were freely available to be used in this manner (to the best of my knowledge).

This is just a prototype - no sound, a couple of placeholder images - so you shouldn't feel obliged to pay anything for it. At the same time, the story itself is complete and the game should run fine so if it works for you, you like it and you want to throw me some beer money, I'd certainly appreciate it.
